Brian started his career in insurance broking and underwriting in Lloyd’s and the London and overseas market over 55 years ago. Brian was, from 1979 to 1990 Chairman, of the Nelson Hurst & Marsh group, before founding the Group. He has over 30 years’ experience in building, buying and selling financial services businesses particularly in the insurance sector.

Alice joined B.P. Marsh in September 2011 having started her career at a leading Life Assurance company. In 2014 she took over as Executive Assistant to the Chairman, running the Chairman’s Office and established herself as a central part of the Management Team.

In February 2015 she was appointed as a Director of B.P. Marsh and a member of the Investment Committee. In January 2016 Alice was appointed Managing Director of B.P. Marsh.

In her position as Managing Director, Alice is responsible for the overall performance of the Company and monitoring the Company’s overall progress towards achieving the objectives and goals of the Company, as set by the Board.

Dan Topping is the Senior Executive with overall responsibility for the portfolio and investment strategy for B.P. Marsh, working alongside the Board and the Investment Directors to find, structure, develop, support and monitor the portfolio.

Dan was appointed as a Director in 2011 having joined B.P. Marsh in February 2007, following two years at an independent London accountancy practice. In January 2016 Dan was appointed Chief Investment Officer of B.P. Marsh.

Dan graduated from the University of Durham in 2005 and is member of the Securities and Investment Institute and the Chartered Governance Institute.

Jon is a Chartered Management Accountant with over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry and is responsible for the Group’s finance function. In addition Jon currently serves as a Board Director on two of the Group’s investee companies, and provides strategic financial advice on the Group’s portfolio. Jon has held a number of Non-Executive appointments on behalf of the Group, including for Hyperion Insurance Group Ltd and Walsingham Motor Insurance Ltd where he oversaw their successful sales. Jon was also the Interim Finance Director for Walsingham for a number of years managing their finance function until it was sold.

Jon graduated from the University of Sheffield with an honours degree in Business Studies and joined the Group in November 1999, following several years as a business analyst and management accountant at Euler Trade Indemnity. He was appointed a Director of B.P. Marsh & Company Limited In September 2001, and Group Finance Director in December 2003 and was instrumental in the admission of the Group to AIM in February 2006. He is a Member of the Chartered Global Management Accountants, the Chartered Management Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

A Certified Accountant, Pankaj Lakhani has over 30 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector, primarily within Lloyd’s and overseas insurance broking and underwriting markets. Having started his career in 1977 as Audit Manager for Ball Baker Leake (now part of PKF), Pankaj then worked for a number of Lloyd’s insurance broking and underwriting firms during this time, including a 20 year tenure as Financial Director of Victor O. Schinnerer & Co Ltd (trading as Admiral/Encon Underwriting Agencies).

Nicholas Carter, aged 76, has over 50 years’ experience in the Lloyd’s Insurance Market. Nick held a variety of positions within Nelson Hurst & Marsh Limited, Citicorp Insurance Brokers and Nelson Hurst Plc acting as Chairman of the Professional Indemnity division of the latter between 1994 and 1999. Between 1999 and 2012, Nick was a consultant with both Alexander Forbes Pty. Ltd and Prime Professions Ltd.

Oliver joined B.P. Marsh as the Assistant Company Secretary in August 2011. Having graduated from the University of Manchester with an honours degree, he is a Graduate of the Chartered Governance Institute. As Assistant Company Secretary Oliver assisted the Group Company Secretary on a wide ranging scope of Company governance and legal matters. In March 2016, Oliver was appointed as a Investment Director at B.P. Marsh. He is a member of the New Business Committee and also acts as the Company’s Nominee Director on the Boards of Sage Program Underwriters, Inc, Stewart Specialty Risk Underwriting Ltd, LEBC Holdings Limited and Devonshire UW Limited.

Abi joined the Company in 2013, and is currently an Investment Director, acting as the Company’s Nominee Director on the Boards of Lilley Plummer Holdings Ltd, The Fiducia MGA Company Ltd and Ai Marine Risk Limited, as well having a particular focus on XPT Specialty Ltd and the Company’s investments in Australia. Abi is also on the Board of B.P. Marsh & Company, and works within the Investment Department, in structuring, developing, supporting and monitoring the portfolio.

Abi graduated from University of Manchester in 2013 and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.

Sophia joined B.P. Marsh in March 2020, having graduated from Newcastle University with an Honours degree in English Literature. Sophia’s day-to-day role includes supporting the Chief Investment Officer and wider Investment Department with their duties. Sophia has completed the Chartered Insurance Institute Award in London Market Insurance and is studying for the CISI Certificate in Corporate Finance.

Patrick joined B.P. Marsh in October 2022, having graduated from the University of Sydney with an Honours degree in Medical Science. As an Investment Associate, Patrick supports the Chief Investment Officer and the wider Investment Department with their duties, with a particular focus on new business enquiries. Patrick is currently studying for the Chartered Insurance Institute Award in London Market Insurance.

Francesca joined B.P. Marsh in January 2013 as Finance Assistant before being appointed to the role of Financial Accountant in March 2016. In June 2018, Francesca was appointed as a director of B.P. Marsh & Company Limited, in addition to this she also attained the title of Group Management Accountant. Francesca is responsible for the Group’s Management Accounts and assists with the routine running of the Finance department. In July 2018, Francesca became an ACCA qualified accountant. In August 2023 Francesca became a Fellow of the Association of the Chartered Certified Accountants.

Michelle is a Chartered Certified Accountant and is responsible for managing the Group’s statutory accounts process and also assists, together with the Group Management Accountant, with the day-to-day running of the Group’s Finance department, supporting the Group Finance Director. Michelle joined B.P. Marsh in 2007 having graduated from Kingston University with a degree in Geography in 2001 and starting her accountancy career in public practice, initially for a year as a graduate trainee at Kingston Smith, followed by five years at Blinkhorns Accountants where she qualified as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Simona joined B.P. Marsh in April 2023 as Accounts Assistant.

She started her professional voyage as a Sales Executive in the motor trade industry, swiftly transitioning into the realm of finance. Along this journey, Simona attained qualifications with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Her career has included 1 year experience working for an accounting practice as well as 5 years managing the accounts department for a growing SME.

At B.P. Marsh, Simona assists in the day-to-day functioning of the Group’s accounts department. She specialises in managing accounts receivable and payable as well as ensures that all accounts are accurately reconciled.

Sinead is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute and joined B.P. Marsh in 2009, becoming appointed as Group Company Secretary in June 2011. Sinead attends all Board and Committee meetings and works closely with the Chairman and the Board in matters of governance and to oversee the effective functioning and leadership of the Company, as well as ensuring compliance with the stock market regulations. Sinead is responsible for negotiating and finalizing the legal aspects of new investments and any follow-on funding, and eventually, the exit process.

Leah joined B.P. Marsh in August 2023, having graduated with a first-class Honours Bachelor of Science degree. Leah’s day-to-day role includes supporting the Company Secretarial Department, as well as extending her assistance to various the other departments within the office. Leah is currently undertaking the Company Secretarial Qualification.

Jasmine joined the B.P. Marsh team in May 2018 as Office Assistant with a background of both Accounting and Sales experience. Jasmine graduated from University of Chichester in 2016 with a BA (Hons) Business & Management: Accounting and Finance degree. Jasmine’s day-to-day role includes assisting the Chairman’s Office and supporting the wider teams with their duties.
